Description
The Yamaha B-4 is a vintage high-quality power amplifier that was released in Japan in 1978, during the “Golden Era” of Japanese high-fidelity audio equipment. Like many units from this wonderful period, the B-4 offers advanced circuit engineering and the use of high-quality components. This amp features a low-noise FET circuitry design. In the B-4, the first stage is a cascode bootstrap differential amplifier circuit with low-noise high-gm dual FET design. The pre-drive stage is a cascode-connected current mirror push-pull differential amplifier circuit. The DC drive (output) stage is a pure complimentary triple push-pull OCL linear transfer three-stage emitter follower circuit. You can switch between Class-B and Class-A operation via a switch on the front panel. This thing is an absolute beast, clocking in at 21 kg (46 lb), and provides clean, color-free power rated at 30 W per channel (Class-A, 8 ohms) or 120 W per channel (Class-B, 8 ohms), with a THD of <0.004% (Class-A) or <0.007% (Class-B). Whatever your power needs, this excellent power amp is almost certainly going to provide it. The amp has a beautiful vintage design, with a handsome and minimalist front panel. This particular unit is in very good condition, with light aging and some scratches and spots as a whole (please check photos). The power light is not working.
